Manifesting Your Success

The 2024 Cambridge Dictionary word of the year is manifest. As in visualizing, that is, manifesting your success. Is that really all there is to it? Could there be something more complete? Read on to learn more!

How are New Year’s resolutions holding up?

It’s now the second week of February, February 11, 2025, to be exact. Six weeks ago, many people made New Year’s resolutions because they recognized the need to change and improve their lives in small or big ways. According to the Pew Research Center, 30% of Americans made New Year’s resolutions for 2024. I wonder how that is working out for those folks.

Well, the answer, most likely, is not so well. According to Inc.com, by the second week of February, 80% of the people who made New Year’s resolutions have now given them up. By March, some people say that 95% of the people who made New Year’s resolutions have given them up. Trashed them. Forgot about them. Over and done with. If you believe Baylor College of Medicine, it’s even worse. According to them, 88% of people who set New Year’s resolutions fail within the first two weeks. I’ll bet you are not surprised to hear these statistics.

What are the reasons that people give up? You probably already know, I would venture to guess. A quick Google search reveals five basic reasons:

  • Setting goals that are unachievable or too idealistic.

  • Unrealistic time to complete them. Going too hard and too quickly

  • Not having a plan

  • The excitement wears off

  • Placing too much pressure on oneself to succeed

Is any one of us surprised by these statistics? I think not. Each of us inherently desires to reach, as we previously learned from our good friend Dr. Abraham Maslow via his hierarchy of needs model, our own self-actualization. That is, we want to be the best we can be, achieve our dreams, and live our best lives. As the statistics I quoted above show, New Year’s resolutions are likely not the best way to achieve the success we desire. No indeed.

As I mentioned in the first paragraph, the 2024 word of the year is manifest, and if you have never heard of manifest and a popular form of manifesting called the 369 method, then let’s dig in a little bit. Even if you are familiar with this term and the practice, you may find that by reading on you learn something new! When we have finished discussing this topic, I’ll show you a process that really works. It is proven to work. And you won’t be surprised to learn what it is.

What is manifesting?

I like to think I’m a well-read person, but I had never heard of manifesting until just recently. I consume a lot of digital and print news, and I read many books. However, my shortcoming in staying current is that, except for LinkedIn, I’m not into social media. I choose not to be, frankly, as I already find that all this news and information detracts from some of the other important things I want to do. Two publications I do read that do a good job of keeping me abreast with trends in business and personal development are Success Magazine (Note 1) and The Wall Street Journal (Note 2). Both publications are on my list of recommended resources on the web page. Would you like to see more recommended resources? From the home screen on the web page, select the More tab, then Books and Resources. I have been reading WSJ for probably over 30 years. Least you think that WSJ is a newspaper for stodgy old men written by stodgy old men, I recommend a second look.  WSJ has done an excellent job of hiring a lot of young talent that complements the seasoned writers who have been in the business for decades. This balance provides, literally, more business and personal interest information than the average person can consume in a day. I spend over 60 minutes reading this informative news source each day.

The December 23 issue of the WSJ featured an absolutely superb article by author Ann-Marie Alcantara describing the process of visualizing or manifesting one’s success. Credit for the following goes to that article. It’s not just the WSJ that is seeing the boom in manifesting; TikTok is also experiencing it, logging 1.6 million posts on #manifesting and 6.5 million on #manifestation! Are you kidding me?

Manifesting entails visualizing and affirming the success you want to achieve. This typically involves writing down or journaling, but it can also involve creating vision boards to help you visualize what you want. Essentially, manifestation is a mindset tool for more fully focusing your mind on what you want to obtain. Like the 369 Method. Oh, you have not heard of that either?  Well, OK, let’s look at it.

The 369 Method

The 369 method is a more specific technique that involves writing down what you want to achieve three times in the morning, six times in the afternoon, and nine times in the evening. It claims to help you attract what you want by using the law of attraction (Note 3) and the power of intention and focused repetition (Note 4).

The Achieve Your Dreams: Live Your Best Life course. A more complete way

When you take the course, you will learn to visualize and manifest your own success. You will learn the value of attraction. While I don’t eschew the 369 Method per se, I do support the concept of focusing your thoughts and efforts (a key word) fully as you envision your success. The techniques I teach you won’t be labeled, but the concepts are discussed in detail because I support them all. The problem is that in and of themselves, the likelihood of success is not high. Wait. What? That’s right. Aside from divine intervention (I can talk about this as well, just not here), the chances of dreaming and manifesting your success that does not include a well-thought-out written plan that includes tangible actions and timelines, custom designed for your wants and desires, that accounts for the reality of where you are in life at the moment, are just not high. This just makes good common sense and is supported by advocates of all these methods to will your own success we just discussed.

The point and the takeaway for today

My point is simple. New Year’s resolutions, popular this time of year, generally are not successful. Manifesting your success, the 369 Method or the law of attraction, are generally incomplete without taking tangible, consistent action to achieve what you want. It’s the action part that makes the Afterburner Success Partners way more complete, different, and, yes, successful. You see, because we take you where you are, we can, together, develop a concrete written plan tailored specifically to your individual wants and desires and construct a well-thought-out, concrete plan, along with a timeline, that will practically guarantee your success.  Assuming you do your part, of course.  So today, sign up and take the course. It will be the best thing you can do for yourself and your family in the new year!
